AuthorPing Copyright Policy (DMCA takedown policy)

AuthorPing shows book information, cover images and author photos from Hardcover (hardcover.app), a community-maintained book database. Cover images and author photos on Hardcover are uploaded by its users. We respect the rights of copyright holders and respond promptly to valid notices.

Reporting content that infringes your copyright

If you believe an image or other material shown in AuthorPing infringes your copyright, email our copyright agent at hello@authorping.com with:

  1. Your name, address, phone number and email address.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
  3. Where it appears in AuthorPing: the book, series or author it's shown for, and ideally a screenshot.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

What we do

When we receive a valid notice, we remove or block the material in AuthorPing promptly, usually within 2 business days, and let you know. Because these images come from Hardcover, we'll also suggest you contact Hardcover so it can be removed at the source.

Counter-notices

If material you're responsible for was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with: your name, address and signature; the material that was removed and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant court. We may restore the material unless the original complainant tells us they have started legal action.

Repeat infringers

We may remove access for anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.

False notices

Knowingly making a false claim in a notice or counter-notice can make you liable for damages.
